Faisal Mosque - reputed symbol of Islamabad
Against the royal backdrop of Margala Hills, Faisal Mosque (also Faisal Mosque) stands as one of the most prestigious places in Pakistan. More than the place of worship, the Faisal Mosque is an excellent work of modern Islamic architecture, symbolizing unity, and a major tourist attraction in Islamabad.
🕌 A gift from Saudi Arabia
The mosque was named after Faisal bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia, who funded the people of Pakistan as a gift. His support symbolized a strong relationship between the two countries and a shared Islamic heritage.
Construction began in 1976 and was completed in 1986. Turkish architect Vedat DalK designed the mosque after winning an international competition with his unique and future design.
